American pair Justin Lower and Hayden Springer share the lead after the first round of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course today [November 14].

They carded rounds of six-under-par 65 and are a shot in front of compatriots Patrick Rodgers and Joseph Bramlett.

Lower, who opened with a bogey free round, finished tied for second at the recent World Wide Technology Championship in Los Cabos, Mexico.

Last year, Camilo Villegas also finished T2 at the Mexico event and won in Bermuda the very next week.

“It crossed my mind,” said Lower, when his T2 in Mexico was mentioned after his round.

Colombian Villegas is tied in 66th position after shooting a one-over-par 72 today.

Round one of the championship was suspended at 5.19 pm due to darkness.

The first round will resume at 7 am and round two will start on schedule at 7 am tomorrow.

The purse at the championship is $6.9 million with $1.242 million going to the winner. The winner will also receive 500 FedEx Cup points.
