WindReach Relaunches Awareness Campaign
As WindReach closes out their 25th anniversary and in observance of the UN’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities [IDPD] on December 3rd, they are relaunching their popular awareness campaign, #WindReachCares.
A spokesperson said, “Diversity, accessibility and inclusion shouldn’t be difficult. Yet somehow the conversations are difficult. However, we know that awareness and education can break down barriers, pave a path for inclusion and show how diversity is really the norm.
“The goal of the #WindReachCares Campaign is to start conversations around diversity, accessibility and inclusion. Five years ago, in celebration of our 20th Anniversary, our team curated a collection of twelve button pins with witty and unique statements printed on them. They were very popular and at the end of the campaign there were upwards of 1600 in circulation and people still proudly wear the buttons today. This year, we have added another button to the collection and we look forward to sharing it with our community!
“WindReach hopes to draw awareness to the UN’s IDPD theme for 2024 ‘Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future.’ Our 13 different pins aim to encourage purposeful conversation between family, friends, colleagues, the person next to you in the shopping line, classmates, sports teams, everyone! We all need to be empowered to live an inclusive and equitable life. Having more conversations leads to an increase in awareness. Awareness leads to action. Action brings inclusive, sustainable change.
“The #WindReachCares buttons will be available, for a small donation, at button booths on December 3, 2024 at various locations throughout the island. We also have retailers that have partnered with us and have agreed to have the pins available at their locations.
“Additionally, we are excited that various schools throughout the island are hosting a #WindReachCares Grub Day in celebration and observance of the UN’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
“We invite the community to make a donation for a pin and pin it proudly! Allow the statement on your pin to be the ice breaker to what can sometimes feel like an uncomfortable conversation to start. It’s that simple. Find a pin that speaks to you, what you believe in, or touches on a topic that may be pertinent in your family.
“Display your pin to show your support! By celebrating all abilities, we change lives together.”
