Sandys 5K Road Race Set For December 15
The Friends of Sandys 5K Road Race, featuring multiple categories for runners and walkers of all ages, will take place on December 15 in West End, offering cash prizes, giveaways, and a scenic route.
A spokesperson said, “It is time to get ready and lace up your sneakers for one of the last races before the year end in West End in Sandys. The 5K Road race hosted by Friends of Sandys and will take place Sunday 15th December starting at Boaz Island field. Whether you are a competitive runner or just looking for a fun morning with friends and family there will be something for everyone at the Friends of Sandys Road Race along with a wonderful atmosphere and a spectacular scenic route.
“There are several categories for the 5K adult runners, adult walkers and children walkers 10-15 years old. There is also a children’s 2.6K run for 8-15 years old. The 5K adult walk and children’s 2.6 K run race will start at 8:15a.m. from the Boaz Island Gas station with the adult 5K run starting at 8:30am.
“There will be cash prizes in both adult female and men runners in each category with the overall winner receiving $500. The first person in each age group receives $200 with second receiving $150 and the third person receiving $100. The age groups are 19 and under, 20-39, 40-49, 50+ in both male and female. All participants will receive give aways of liquid laundry detergent, soap detergent and kitchen towels and are eligible for the entry draw prizes donated by Audio Visual on the day of the event.
