Solar Panels Installed At Bermuda Red Cross
BE Solar has successfully completed a renewable energy project at the Bermuda Red Cross headquarters as part of their “initiative to help charities and businesses support each other with clean energy.”
A spokesperson said, “This innovative project not only helps advance the Bermuda Red Cross sustainability goals but also strengthens the organization’s resilience and operational efficiency. The initiative underscores BE Solar’s commitment to supporting organizations in achieving their ESG objectives while working to address climate challenges and helping the charitable sector reduce their operating costs.
“The installation at the Bermuda Red Cross’s headquarters features a 32-panel solar PV system using high-performance 440W Aptos bifacial solar panels. These panels, which are guaranteed to produce energy for at least 30 years, are paired with Enphase IQ7+ microinverters for optimal performance and reliability. The project also includes a 15 year warranted 10kWh Enphase IQ5P battery solution, ensuring essential energy loads can run during outages.

“BE Solar was selected through a competitive bidding process and played a role in helping the Bermuda Red Cross secure funding for the project from Aeolus Capital Management and QBE Foundation. BE Solar also contributed an in-kind donation valued at $3,700 to further support the initiative.”
Executive Director of the Bermuda Red Cross, Ann Spencer Arscott explained, “When it was confirmed that we would be moving our offices into the Clipper Building, we knew we had to look for a backup power solution to function during power outages and it was suggested that we consider solar power and batteries. It has been a great experience working with the BE Solar team and of course, none of this could have happened without the tremendous support from Aeolus Capital Management and the QBE Foundation.”
“This system exemplifies energy leadership and collaboration within our community,” said Steven Wells, Head of the Charitable Giving Committee at Aeolus Capital Management. “This system exemplifies energy leadership and collaboration within our community, this is the third solar installation project Aeolus has helped fund and we are immensely proud to partner with BE Solar and the Bermuda Red Cross to deliver on a shared vision for a sustainable Bermuda.”
A spokesperson added, “The project helped Bermuda Red Cross to achieve their key goals:
- Enhance sustainability
- Provide backup power during outages
- Help future-proof the property for additional renewable energy phases
“This innovative clean energy solution will:
- Reduce oil consumption by 772 barrels over 30 years
- Eliminate over 400 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions
- Contribute to an estimated annual savings of over $10,200 and $431,000 in lifetime savings
“Our support for the Bermuda Red Cross reflects our commitment to meaningful environmental action while strengthening vital community services,” said Thomas Lowe, Chair of the QBE Foundation Bermuda.
A spokesperson added, “BE Solar’s purpose is to empower a sustainable Bermuda through innovative renewable energy solutions. Since 2010, BE Solar has supported a variety of charities on the island with reducing their carbon footprint and operational costs with clean energy.
“Charities such as WindReach, Family Centre, PALS and the National Museum of Bermuda. In 2025, Focus Counseling, BUEI, Bermuda National Trust and the Bermuda Football Association will install solar projects with BE Solar. With a vision for “an efficient Bermuda powered by clean energy,” BE Solar’s core values of Integrity, Service, Expertise, Equality, and Collaboration drive every project they undertake.”
“This project showcases how businesses, charities, and the clean energy sector can come together to create meaningful change,” said Stratton Hatfield, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, BE Solar. “We’re proud to help the Bermuda Red Cross lead by example in the transition to a sustainable and resilient future.”
