Bermuda Police Service PIPA Readiness
The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] is working on several initiatives to “enhance existing processes and procedures to be compliant with the principles of PIPA.”
A police spokesperson said, “The Personal Information and Protecting Act [PIPA] 2016 came into effect on 1st January, 2025. The Bermuda Police Service continues to progress several initiatives to enhance existing processes and procedures to be compliant with the principles of PIPA.
“To accomplish this, the BPS has completed a GAP analysis designed to capture the present state of the organization in relation to PIPA. The end result was the formulation of an action plan, with smaller projects designed to bridge the gap between our present state and the future landscape of the BPS when PIPA is fully implemented.
“We have already appointed a Privacy Officer, who will lead a team responsible for progressing these initiatives, including staff awareness training, a review of existing information security polices, and amendments to our Memorandum of Understandings with third party vendors.
