OBA MP Susan Jackson Is Retiring
[Updated] OBA Leader Jarion Richardson confirmed that MP Susan Jackson is retiring, and said that “Susan is to be commended for her decades of service to the people of Bermuda and especially the residents of Constituency 20.”
Mr Richardson said, “Although sad to see her retire, the One Bermuda Alliance wishes MP Susan Jackson all the best as she enters her next stage of life. Susan is to be commended for her decades of service to the people of Bermuda and especially the residents of constituency 20.
“Susan Jackson has served the people well and has continued her family’s legacy, walking in the footsteps of her mother, the late MP Louise Jackson.
“It has been an honour to work with MP Jackson. I have learned a lot from her over the years and wish her nothing but the best. The people of Bermuda were fortunate to have been served by you.”
Ms Jackson is the MP for Constituency 20 Pembroke South West which the OBA or UBP have won in all the general elections since the one seat system started in 2003, always earning at least 78% of the vote. The PLP has already announced that Iesha Musson will be their candidate.
Update 10.20pm: The PLP said, “The Progressive Labour Party notes the retirement of OBA MP Susan Jackson, who has served in the Legislature since 2012. The commitment to public service comes with great sacrifice and we wish her well in the next phase of her life.
“Earlier this week, we unveiled our young new candidate, Iesha Musson, as the PLP Candidate for Pembroke South West. At that time, we had no knowledge of Ms. Jackson’s impending retirement. However, this now becomes the perfect time for the constituents of Pembroke South West to give our candidate Ms Musson a rightful chance at representing them.
“As she visits your homes, we hope you welcome her and give her the chance to opine on the PLP’s record in government, our plans for the next term, and the role she can play in that process and representing your interests. We are confident you will see Ms. Musson is worthy of your support.”
Thank you for your service my dear.
You will be hard to replace.
Tell us what Ms Jackson did? She was miles behind her mom. Accomplishments? But not one listed. Really? A seat warmer and lots of them in the House. Disappoiting. History will only see fancy Pr words about accomplishments but not one listed .
She knows the obaubp is GAMEOVER!
