Temporary Detour Advisory For Route 8 Buses
The Department of Public Transportation [DPT] advised of an “immediate detour on Route 8 due to road paving and closures on Middle Road, Warwick, near Burnt House Hill.”
A Government spokesperson said, “”All westbound Route 8 buses will now detour left at the Paget stoplights to South Road and rejoin their regular route at Barnes Corner. Eastbound Route 8 buses will follow the same detour in reverse.
“The detour is effective immediately, starting today, Tuesday, January 14th, and will remain in place until Middle Road is reopened by the Ministry of Public Works when crews conclude work in the evening. Beginning Wednesday, January 15th, the detour will start at approximately 7:30 a.m. each day and remain in effect until the road is reopened each evening.
“During the closure, there will be two shuttle buses operating on either side of the affected area to provide continuous service to Middle Road and Cedar Hill.
“Eastern Shuttle Loop: Operates from the bus stop east of White Sands Road in Paget via Middle Road, then right on Longford Road, right on St. Mary’s Road, Cedar Hill, and right on Middle Road, Warwick, turning around at the old TN Tatem Middle School before reversing the route.
“Western Shuttle Loop: Operates from Barnes Corner via Middle Road, turning around just east of Burnt House Hill to reverse the loop.
“Each shuttle route is expected to take approximately 15 minutes to complete one leg of its loop.
“Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this temporary detour.”
