Khano Smith Looks Ahead To New Season
Khano Smith, the Rhode Island head coach, said he is focused on continuing to develop the club as he looks towards the upcoming United Soccer League [USL] Championship season.
The Bermudian led Rhode Island to the USL Championship final in their inaugural campaign, losing 3-0 to the Colorado Spring Switchbacks.
Rhode Island did, however, claim the USL Championship Eastern Conference title, beating Charleston Battery 2-1.
Smith, a former Bermuda and New England Revolution winger, was appointed as head coach and general manager of Rhode Island in March 2023.
“My first season in charge was incredible because it is something I may never get to experience again,” Smith wrote on social media.
“To build a team up from the ground up was an amazing experience and something I will always remember.
“Looking into the future, I am never focused on outcomes. My only focus in trying to control what I can control.
“I can impact the development of this club, and our players as individuals.”
Rhode Island start the coming season away to Charleston Battery on March 15.
