Garon Wilkinson Thrilled With BSA Fighters

Garon Wilkinson, the Bermuda Sanshou Association [BSA] president, has praised the performances of the amateur Sanda kickboxers who competed at the weekend.
Several BSA fighters showcased their skills against competitors from the Kaniwa Dojo in Amarillo, Texas, on the undercard of Fight Night at The Shed in Dockyard.
Among the adult bouts, Muryah Swan and Varshini Srinivasan represented the BSA, with Swan defeating Sarah Peterson and Srinivasan losing to Ashley Williams.
The junior fighters also delivered impressive performances, with Tristan Robinson, Michael Tristan Burgess, and Geraldine Sidders earning victories over their respective opponents, Jace Gaddy, Derek Wheeler, and Keira Woolley.
Wilkinson highlighted the thrilling battle between Robinson and Gaddy, describing it as “entertaining and closely fought” and admitting that it “could have gone either way.”
He also commended Burgess for his technical display against Wheeler.
“[Michael] showed his experience and fought really well,” Wilkinson told Bernews. “There were some great takedowns, and it was an excellent performance.”
Wilkinson was particularly impressed by 16-year-old Muryah Swan, who delivered a standout performance against the much older Peterson.
“It was an extremely great effort by Muryah,” Wilkinson said. “She’s a great competitor.
“As a teenager competing against a grown woman, she was composed and moved really well.”
He added: “The officiating was excellent, and the event ran smoothly.
“I received plenty of compliments from the other participants, saying they were impressed with what the BSA brought to the table.”
