Sharrieff Shines As Howard Claims 2nd At NEC
Myeisha Sharrieff and her Howard University women’s swimming and diving teammates produced a strong performance at the 2025 Northeast Conference [NEC] championship, securing second place with a total score of 683.5 points. This impressive result marks the second consecutive year that Howard has finished as runners-up in the conference.
Sharrieff played a key role in Howard’s success, delivering several personal best performances throughout the competition. In the women’s 50 yard freestyle, she finished 15th in the preliminaries with a personal best time of 24.24, advancing to the ‘B’ final. She finished fifth in the final, clocking a time of 24.26.
Sharrieff’s standout performance came in the women’s 100 yard backstroke. She recorded the second-fastest time in the preliminaries with a personal best of 56.20, securing her place in the ‘A’ final. In the final, she went even faster, touching the wall in a new personal best time of 56.17 to claim the silver medal.
In the women’s 200 yard backstroke, Sharrieff continued her impressive form. She finished ninth in the preliminaries with a personal best time of 2:07.49, advancing to the ‘B’ final. She then bettered her time again in the final, finishing second with another personal best of 2:06.74.
