Tuwile Bermuda Feb 24 2025 1Thanatologist Jeelise Allen has launched Tuwile, a specialized grief counseling practice, offering individual and group therapy, corporate workshops, and support services to help people navigate loss.

A spokesperson said, “Grief is a natural yet profoundly challenging part of life, and for many, navigating loss can feel overwhelming and isolating. Recognizing the urgent need for dedicated grief support in Bermuda’s only thanatologist Jeelise Allen has launched Tuwile, a private counseling practice specializing in individual and group grief therapy, corporate workshops, and support services for adults.

“Tuwile, which means “death is inevitable” in Swahili, acknowledges the universal reality of loss while providing a compassionate and structured approach to healing. Jeelise Allen, a Bermudian practitioner with a decade of experience in grief support, holds a bachelor’s degree in thanatology, a master’s in psychology, and a counseling certificate. She has worked in various counseling capacities over the years and now feels that Bermuda needs dedicated grief support more than ever.”

“Grief is not something you simply ‘get over.’ It reshapes your world, and without the right support, it can impact mental, emotional, and even physical well-being,” said Allen. “I’ve witnessed firsthand how people struggle in silence with their loss. Tuwile is here to ensure that no one has to navigate their grief alone.”

A spokesperson added, “Grief affects millions worldwide, and research underscores the importance of professional support:

  • “Studies show that prolonged grief disorder affects 7-10% of bereaved individuals, leading to severe emotional distress, depression, and anxiety.
  • “Unresolved grief can increase the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, and a weakened immune system.
  • “Workplaces experience higher absenteeism and decreased productivity when employees struggle with grief, emphasizing the need for corporate workshops and support systems.

“To ensure accessible and convenient services, Tuwile operates from two locations: Mayvera for general grief counseling and the Women’s Resource Center for services specifically supporting women.

“With the launch of Tuwile, Bermudians now have a dedicated space to process loss, build resilience, and find a path forward. For more information or to book an appointment, contact info@tuwilebda.com, telephone 591-1107, or follow on Instagram @Tuwilebda.”
