Athletes Qualify For Carifta At Pacers Meet

Three Bermuda athletes secured their spots for the Carifta Games at the Pacers Meet, with more hopefuls set to compete at the BSSF National Schools Championship this Friday.

A spokesperson said, “The chase for Carifta glory is heating up! The Bermuda Pacers Meet on Saturday, March 8, saw three athletes book their spots for the 2025 Carifta Games in Port of Spain, Trinidad, delivering standout performances in a high-energy qualifier.

“Tatitana Sousa wasted no time, launching a 37.52m javelin throw on her very first attempt in the U17 division to secure her place. Sanchez Smith blazed through the U17 3000m with a 9:41, sealing his Carifta berth.

“Meanwhile, Amaris Munya, a seasoned Carifta competitor, showed her class in the 800m, clocking a sizzling 2:21.63 to earn her third consecutive Games appearance. But the action isn’t over yet!

“All eyes now turn to Flora Duffy Stadium this Friday, as the Bermuda Schools Sports Federation (BSSF) National Schools Championship takes center stage—another crucial Carifta qualifier.

“Rising talents to watch include Gianluca Bortoli in the 3000m, his sister Corina Bortoli, Kelese Wade in the 800m, Jake Smith tackling both the 5000m and 1500m, and Jaeda Grant, doubling up in the 1500m and 800m.

“The BSSF Finals begin Friday, March 14th, at 6:00 PM, and admission is free! Track fans, come out and support Bermuda’s student-athletes as they chase national team spots and the chance to shine on the Carifta stage in 2025!”
