Bermuda Triple Challenge Returns March 14-16
The Bermuda Triple Challenge returns March 14-16, blending obstacle racing with fundraising for six youth charities.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Triple Challenge returns! Friday, March 14th – Sunday, March 16th participants will run, jump, climb and crawl their way through three unique obstacle courses over three exciting days in support of six Bermudian youth-based charities. The enjoyable obstacle course racing weekend has raised over $500,000 since 2012.
“Individuals, and teams of up to five participants will navigate obstacles ranging from scaling shipping containers, A-frame walls, traversing the Regiment’s Assault Course, a 300 ft water-slide and even climb over one of the islands iconic pink n’ blue buses. The Bermuda Triple Challenge’s unique scoring system combines points for fundraising with finishing times in order to determine who is crowned ‘The Fittest For Charity’.”
Organizers have already seen strong registration to date, including 20 internationals. Co-Race Director Jason Correia shared, “We are excited to return. Each year we try to offer something slightly different and mix things up. This year we’re looking at a revised Sunday course for the Chubb Royal Challenge starting from Lagoon Park just outside of Dockyard.”
The spokesperson said, “100% of every dollar raised is donated to the weekend’s charities: Connectech Coding, Tomorrow’s Voices, Windreach Bermuda, Raleigh Bermuda, Duke of Edinburgh Awards Bermuda, and Family Centre’s Beyond Rugby Bermuda.”
Co-Race Director Clare Panchaud shared, “The unique scoring format allows for anyone to win. The emphasis is on fundraising! The more charitable funds raised, the better positioned participants are to win, plus we have the obstacle wildcard which participants can use to “skip” any non-mandatory obstacle during the weekend. Earn up to three wildcards for each $500 increment of charitable funds raised and save valuable time on route.
“The weekend would not be possible without our title sponsors, so thank you very much CG, Liberty Mutual, CHUBB, and Bermuda Tourism Authority.”
The spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Triple Challenge kicks off at 7:00 pm Friday, March 14th with the CG Urban Foot Race through the old town of St. George’s followed by a community block-party with DJ Fury and a bouncy castle for all to enjoy.
“The Liberty Mutual Island Challenge starts Saturday morning at 8:40am from Warwick Camp and will be followed by a family-style BBQ courtesy of Take Five Catering and Butterfield & Vallis.
“Sunday’s CHUBB Royal Challenge finale at 9:45am will see participants in an all-out assault on Lagoon Park in the Chubb Royal Challenge.
“The weekend is wrapped up with the much-anticipated Take Five Catering / Butterfield & Vallis participant appreciation brunch.
“Registration and information can be found here.”
