Kenni Thompson On Bournemouth Game
Kenni Thompson, the AFC Bournemouth forward, said the team’s sole focus is on their upcoming game against Moneyfields in the National League Division One South West today [March 19].
The match, originally postponed due to fog at The Ringwood Community Hub two weeks ago, holds significant importance for the team’s season.
A victory could set up a historic game at Vitality Stadium – the home of Bournemouth men’s team – on Sunday, where a win would see Thompson’s side crowned champions in front of a big home crowd.
“We can’t look too far ahead,” Thompson told the club’s website. “We have to take it one game at a time, like we have all season. If you start looking ahead too much there can be distractions.”
Thompson emphasised the importance of recovery and staying sharp during a demanding period of fixtures.
“The girls know what they’ve got to do, it’s all about recovering well,” she said.
“Playing eight games in three days is a lot, so we’re fully focused to get that right and then push on in this crucial stage of the season.
“We played Moneyfields on Sunday in the cup, so we know we’ll be in for a tough game and we’re really looking forward to it.
“We know what we can do and we have to make sure we get the result, that’s what we’re focused on.”
The game will be streamed live on afcbTV and the club’s social media channels.
“Me and the other girls maybe don’t have family that live locally, so it will be great to have them watching the game,” Thompson added.
“There are more eyes on the women’s game, which is a great thing, so hopefully we can get the job done.”
