Premier Meets With Canadian Consul General
The Premier David Burt recently met with Consul General of Canada in New York, Tom Clark, and Deputy Consul General of Canada in New York, Geoff Gartshore, during their visit to Bermuda for the 2025 Risk Summit.
A Government spokesperson said, “The meeting focused on reinforcing the strong relationship between Bermuda and Canada and exploring opportunities for greater collaboration.
“Discussions covered key areas such as trade, education, and travel, with both sides expressing interest in enhancing economic ties, increasing student enrollment in Canadian institutions, and improving air connectivity between the two jurisdictions. The meeting reaffirmed the long-standing partnership between Bermuda and Canada and the commitment to ongoing dialogue on matters of mutual interest.”
Premier Burt said, “In these times of global economic uncertainty, it is imperative that we strengthen our partnerships with steadfast allies like Canada. Our discussions were not just about enhancing trade, education, and travel; they were about fortifying our resilience against external challenges. By deepening our collaboration, we aim to ensure that Bermuda remains a beacon of stability and prosperity, while also working to support our people and address the rising cost of living.”
Consul General of Canada in New York, Tom Clark, reiterated, “We are on the precipice of a new era of Canada-Bermuda relations. One that will be richer for all.”
