Bruce Keyes, Admissions Manager at St. Andrew’s College [SAC] in Ontario, Canada, will visit Bermuda from Thursday, April 10 to Saturday, April 12 to attend the 2025 Kappa Classic, the island’s premier youth football tournament.

A spokesperson said, “His visit reflects SAC’s ongoing commitment to supporting international student-athletes and presents an exciting opportunity for local boys interested in combining high-level sport with academic excellence.

“Mr. Keyes will be on-site at the National Sports Center during the tournament, seeking to connect with male student-athletes who may be interested in playing sports internationally while receiving a top-tier education. SAC is known for its strong athletic tradition, with elite programs in football, rugby, volleyball, and ice hockey just to name a few.

“Currently, SAC is home to several Bermuda-linked athletes thriving in various sports: two Bermudian brothers are playing varsity football and rugby, two Bermuda resident brothers are also contributing to the program, and one Bermudian athlete is playing varsity volleyball. The school’s inclusive and competitive environment makes it an ideal destination for talented athletes from Bermuda. The close proximity between Bermuda and St Andrew College of 2.5 hour flight along with the US Dollar and Canadian Dollar exchange rate makes it attractive as well.

“SAC’s relationship with Bermuda has flourished in recent years. Bermudian brothers Sebastian and Michael Madeiros, both SAC students, helped lead the school’s varsity soccer team to back-to-back national and conference titles. Sebastian, as co-captain, was named MVP of the CAIS national championship, while Michael made headlines scoring the game-winning goal in the CISAA final with a well-placed header. Their achievements exemplify the level of success that Bermudian student-athletes can attain with the right support and environment.”

“Attending the Kappa Classic is a fantastic opportunity to see Bermuda’s youth talent in action,” said Bruce Keyes, Admissions Manager. “We’ve had tremendous experiences with our Bermudian students, and we’re excited to meet more young athletes who are ready to take the next step both academically and athletically.”

The spokesperson said, “The Kappa Classic—established in 1999 and now the largest youth sporting event in Bermuda—features more than 1,000 boys and girls aged 7 to 14 competing over three days at the National Sports Center. Its growth has created a vibrant platform for young athletes to shine locally and, increasingly, internationally.

“With growing ties between Bermuda and institutions like SAC, this year’s Kappa Classic offers more than competition—it offers a gateway to future academic and athletic opportunities abroad.
