Bermuda’s economy isn’t just about numbers and statistics, it’s about the hours you work, the bills you pay, and the future you’re building for your family. Good economic news should mean something to every Bermudian, but to many it’s just numbers.

Wages are up, tourism is growing, and businesses are investing in our future, but too many Bermudians are struggling to keep up. We believe that a growing economy means nothing if it isn’t lifting you and your family up as well. That’s why we are committed to not just working for a good economy but ensuring that it translates into something meaningful for you.

Minister Hayward’s latest report on the economy shows that employment income has risen by 6.5%—with major gains in international business, hospitality, and transportation. That means:

  • For families: Higher wages to help cover groceries, and household bills.
  • For job seekers: Growth in IB, hotels, and restaurants, means more job opportunities for Bermudians.
  • For entrepreneurs: With visitor spending rising to $139.4 million in the 3rd Quarter of 2024, local businesses are seeing more customers.

While there is progress for our economy, we also recognize reality. Too many Bermudians still struggle with high grocery prices, rent, and electricity bills. That’s why this government has been laser-focused on tackling the cost of living crisis.

  • We are fighting for lower food prices, because no Bermudian should go hungry.
  • We’re expanding affordable housing. Because everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
  • We’re working to lower energy costs. Because your light bill shouldn’t break the bank.
  • We’re working to ensure that banks and other businesses aren’t sacrificing our people for profits

We are also

  • Investing in training, and apprenticeships so that young Bermudians can build lasting careers
  • Holding fast on protected and restricted job categories to preserve opportunities for Bermudians.
  • Working to eliminate red tape, and further expand access to capital for small businesses so that they can grow, hire more workers, and thrive.

Bermudians are hardworking, resilient, and determined. You deserve an economy that rewards that hard work. That’s why we’re redoubling our fight for affordable living, job creation, and on making sure that when the economy grows, the wealth and privileged aren’t the only ones who feel it – you feel it too.

We won’t stop fighting for you. We won’t stop pushing for fairness. And we won’t stop until every Bermudian can feel hopeful about their future.

Because a fairer Bermuda isn’t just about cold numbers or statistics it’s about you.

    Mr. Faymous

Here we go again with more La La we have had enough of that large in creases we have a hard not to crack and you have got it all wron,g firstly ,we the public do need heaps of flatery poured all over us.

We deal with reality and facts on this side of the fence.

I know exacly what the problem is and how to solve it !

For you information for the merchants to stay in business they need to maintain price to pay their staff who are surviving under the same issue .
Not even price control will fix this one we need to look at other methods or something like that no body know what that something could be , never the less something like we dealt with after WW11

We do no need you being yet not another person trying to tell us what the promlems are if so you have missed the boat , you with out any attemot to mention the slightest solution on how to fix the something.

You would not be grand standing as you are not the miracle man.

Also for your information the food stores are subject to price hikes on their imports which, if you did your research are beyond their control of the food market, remember they have to buy their merchandise from another country who is also suffering from hign pices .

The food store where i go reduce price where they can they are no stupid .
Did you know the food store looses a bundle on trying to mauntain a selection of fresh vegetables.

We do not need platitudes which do no ease the burden.

We also realize the the government need to function with the burden of the national debt an the project of bermudiana beach .
We the public did no create this problem you are not to forget that .

This situation we face to day is a two way street of give and take and a lot of take with no action will and has never solve any problem and also that which will never go away on it own.

A partial of better stll a major adjustment if need be could be a solution by the reduction in taxation or the elimination of certain tax all together. the governmen coul reduce some of its services.

The public need to participate with cut backs also, but no be the looser .

This is a delicate balancing act with taxation being the over kill as it is not going to fall out of the sky Mr Famous.
The tourist trade is improving the hotel get to see and keep all the money an pays minimum wages been doing that for years . Are convention hotel becoming a dying trade.

We can only beat the donkey till it drops or we drop !

by the wall tell those idiots to stop shoopin our wild life we d no have an elephant in the garden .
What is every country did that with stray bullets ??????

“Too many Bermudians still struggle with high grocery prices, rent, and electricity bills”

And why are prices so high? Could it be because the PLP government needs every penny it can find in order make interest payments on nearly $4 BILLION in current account debt?

    • Voter says:

The OBAubpeers need more trolls like you to keep them as the opposition for the next 20 years. The next election hasn’t even called yet and they’ve already loss.

    • PAC MAN says:

      THERE IS NO SHAME .
if a family finds it self borowing money by way of a mortgage in my last Job i was more than happy the help hundeds a people achieve home ownership at least it was a start for them, we also included and insisted a lower unit which provided income to suport the mortgage.

      THERE WERE NO FORCLOSURES .

The problem with the national debt is the lack of sufficient surporting income caused by covid and no visitors and the dreaded inflation to support the debt placing the burden on the tax payer many of whome whom are struggling as i write this .

Never the less when the public find them selves in the un~ enviable position of loss of income is can not survive leaving the Government who may find it self in the same position, if it does not curb its over seas spending.

We must do all that is possible to increase our tourtist business our super hot summer is no longer an insentive to spend a day at the beach . what isthe alternative rent umbrellas !

May be duty free on all visitor purchased my help if the visitor goes else where .
Plain and simple government do not collect any duty.

We are not a tourist trap .

Visitor participation is critical it worked before and will work again.

B.E.L.Co. i Ipresume they are are in debt also they can sell bonds or better a C/D to improve their botom line and our income also.

Bermuda have to learn how to invest money the banks would do well to encourage that back again i want 6 .66 %

Just imaging if we had $4 billion out on loan the interest would be collosal .

We can not keep selling our large physical our assets .

We are a nation of land lords, never sell, we always rent .

Got an empty apartment you re paying tax on turn that into a business a lunch room will do if tha fails try “SOMETHING” else if nothing else work take in laundry . whole sailers will sell to you foe cash . Animal and Garden House is doing well with that idea .

Use the word HOUSE in the name of your business .

COME ON. BERMUDA COME ON we have got to dig our selves out of the bloody the hole of dispair .

All it takes is enthusiasm, motivation, comunication and good fortune an a free business permit

i an thinking of turning my garage into a tax free ” suger factory”, got to start small no shame in that . they should be printing the now .

Benny Rego. G.R.H.S started with a junk shop selling other peples junk .
There is a shop north of the convent you name ,it he has it .
want a lawn mower no lights or reverse gear , go see BO ! next to Lindo in Warwick

There are a million ideas waiting to come true. justfor you !

STOP THE NAG ~ATIVITY. oops !

You can turn a dollar i to a million little baby dollars .

Sell through the window like Mc Donald does . Keep the Dauge on a rope .

Idea, ! give home owners a free license to conduct retail business from their home they do that in jolly old England as they are “a nation of shop keepers .”
