Dame Flora Duffy has revealed that she accidentally arrived in Singapore for the opening race of the T100 World Triathlon Tour Series with mismatched race shoes.

Duffy, set to compete at the iconic Singapore Flyer and the legendary F1 track this weekend, shared that her sponsors, Asics, quickly stepped in to fix the mix-up.

“Arrived in Singapore and realized that I packed two different race shoes!” Duffy wrote on social media.

“I packed one Metaspeed Sky Paris and one [new version] Metaspeed Sky.

“In all my years of racing, I’ve never made a mistake like this Luckily, Asics came to the rescue and sent me two of the correct shoes. New colour way too!”

Duffy achieved her goal of earning a guaranteed contract after finishing fourth in the T100 Final in Dubai in November last year.

The seven-race series features events in San Francisco [May 31 to June 1], London [August 9 to 10], Ibiza, Spain [TBA], Lake Las Vegas [TBA], Dubai [November 15 to 16] and Qatar [December 11 to 13].

Among the women’s triathletes with automatic contracts are defending champion Taylor Knibb, of the United States, Ashleigh Gentle, of Australia, and Paula Findlay, of Canada.

Duffy finished fifth in the overall standings last season with 90 points.

The T100 [2km swim, 80km bike, 18km run] showcases the world’s best triathletes with 20 men and 20 women competing in every event, all racing for the chance to be crowned champion and earn a slice of the $9 million on offer.
