Krista Dyer has competed in her opening bout at the Sanda World Cup, held in Jiangyin, China, where she faced a formidable opponent.
The Bermudian, competing in the women 65kg division, was defeated by experienced Iranian Sedigheh Dariaeivarkadeh, with the judges’ scoring resulting in a 12-point spread.
Dyer, who represents the Bermuda Sanshou Association, meets her second opponent from Australia tomorrow [April 8] in the robin-robin tournament.
She earned her place at the World Cup after an impressive silver-medal finish at the World Wushu Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, in November 2023.
