7-year-old Raelyn Robinson won a gold medal in the long jump at the Speed Capital Ohio Showcase in Cincinnati this past weekend.

A spokesperson said, “Raelyn soared to new heights and secured her title as Long Jump Champion, marking the 10.5ft [3.2m] jump as a personal best thus far for her track C field season. Competing against some of the best youth elite athletes in the Midwest region, Raelyn competed in a total of three events and delivered a solid performance overall, securing a spot in the 100m and 200m finals [winning her 200m heat]. Raelyn placed 4th overall in the exhilarating ‘Justin Gatlin 100m Dash Showcase’ —narrowly missing out on the podium by 0.25s for the 7-year old category.”

When asked how she felt about her meet, Raelyn said, “I’m really proud of myself. I love jumping and I love sprinting. I also like competing away because I get to meet a lot of new people.”

Raelyn’s younger sister, Reyna Robinson joined her and competed in the 6U category for her first international track meet. 5 year-old Reyna said, ‘I was a bit nervous, but I was confidant and believed in myself.’

The spokesperson added, ““Meet officials congratulated Raelyn on her outstanding achievement and look forward to witnessing her success and growth on the international stage.
