Bermuda College To Appoint Events Coordinator
Bermuda College is appointing a full-time events coordinator to oversee venue rentals and raise awareness of its spaces available for public and commercial events.
A spokesperson said, “A new events coordinator is set to be employed at Bermuda College to help promote space that is available for use by the community and commercial sectors.
“The Events, Rooms, and Communications Coordinator will help manage a diverse range of events, from large-scale conferences to community gatherings.”
“We have historically offered venues for hire however, due to capacity challenges, it was not a main area of focus for us,” said Scott Wade, the College’s Vice President, Chief Financial and Business Development Officer.
“Last year, the College did a soft launch of a community focused venue hire function to gain a better understanding of what demand might be.
“We decided, therefore, that having a full-time coordinator would ensure people who are renting spaces from the College get everything that they need and importantly, value for money.”
The spokesperson said, “Mr. Wade said the College was deeply appreciative of the ongoing support from Bermuda College Foundation and regarding venue rentals, the plan was for the College to have partnerships with local vendors offering services such as catering and event planning.”
“We have the newly opened Butterfield and Vallis Conference Centre that holds 200 people, along with the Athene Lecture Theatre, both with robust and integrated technology infrastructures.
“Outside of a hotel, where else can you find these sort of mixed facility offerings on Island?” said Mr. Wade.
The spokesperson said, “Other facilities available for rent include the overflow classrooms that link to the Lecture Theatre and Conference Centre, the sports field, gymnasium, fitness rooms, and office spaces.”
Mr. Wade added, “The College is one of the Bermuda Volleyball Association’s primary training venues and they are here five or six nights a week.
“We have also hosted the Bermuda Football Association’s girls football matches and tournaments for the past two seasons, as well as winter training for the Bermuda Bicycle Association Youth Programme.
“There is also a longer-term plan to improve our sports facilities so that we can cater to even more organisations.”
He added, “We want to make the Island know that Bermuda College is not here just for education. We are the Community’s College, not just for the students in our two-year academic programmes.”
The spokesperson said, “Requests for venue hire can be submitted here.”
