Bermuda Journal Of Academic Research
The Bermuda Journal of Academic Research, launched by Kyaida Lanthier and Ywione Darrell, is opening its first Call for Submissions.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Journal of Academic Research is dedicated to fostering a culture of curiosity and appreciation for academic research in Bermuda and the wider Caribbean. By driving data-informed policy and strengthening connections with regional partners, as well as academic and research institutions, the Journal aims to elevate scholarship and intellectual discourse within the community.
Meet the Executive Committee
“The Journal was founded in October 2024 by Kyaida Lanthier and Ywione Darrell, who serve as Co-Editors. Their vision is to establish a dynamic and inclusive platform that empowers scholars and amplifies their voices. To bring this initiative to life, they assembled a team of six young Bermudians who manage the Journal’s daily operations:
- Procurement Editors: Kaya Montarsolo & Ayana Lomas – responsible for encouraging submissions and managing the submission process.
- Marketing Lead: Olivia Washington – promoting the Journal locally and internationally, assisted by:
- Graphic Designer: Lara Backeberg
- Website Developer: Darien Williams
- Privacy & Ownership Rights Director: Taj Lowery – ensuring proper management of authors’ intellectual property rights.
“Additionally, a group of temporary editors will assist in the review and editing process for submissions.
Guidance from the Editorial Board
“Kyaida and Ywione have received invaluable guidance on the Journal’s direction from a multidisciplinary Editorial Board, including:
- Dr. Carika Weldon: CEO and Founder of CariGenetics
- Dr. Kim Dismont-Robinson: Senior English Lecturer at Bermuda College
- Dr. Tracey Harney: Biology professor at the Bermuda College
- Craig Simmons: Former Economics lecturer at the Bermuda College
- Dr. Steven Klein: Senior Lecturer in Political Theory at King’s College London
What’s Next?
“The Journal is preparing to launch its Call for Submissions on June 2nd, 2025. Submission may fall into two categories:
- Peer Reviewed section: This will be suited for existing academics and/or graduate students.
- Aspiring researchers section: This will include submissions that will not undergo the peer review process.
“Submissions close on August 29th, 2025.
