Khano Smith’s Rhode Island Win At Home
Khano Smith’s Rhode Island won their first match at their brand-new stadium – Centreville Bank Stadium – after defeating North Carolina 2-1 in the United Soccer League Championship yesterday [June 14].
Albert Dikwa opened the scoring for Rhode Island in the eighteenth minute before Rafa Mentzingen equalised for the visiting side in the 35th minute.
Maxi Rodriguez scored a dramatic late winner for the home side in the 95th minute.
A former Bermuda captain, Smith made history in his first year as a head coach last term, leading Rhode Island to the Eastern Conference final in their inaugural season.
Rhode Island are at home to Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday [June 21].
