Smith & Burns Win Heroes Day Triathlon Titles
Steve Smith and Laura Burns raced to victory at the Bermuda Triathlon Association’s National Heroes Day Home event in Harrington Sound.
The race featured a 700-meter swim, an 18.7-kilometer bike ride, and a 4.7-kilometer run.
Smith won the men’s division with a time of 1 hour, 4 minutes, and 34 seconds. His splits were 11:51 for the swim, 32:17 for the bike, and 20:26 for the run. Alex Pilgrim finished second among the men, with a total time of 1 hour, 5 minutes, and 43 seconds. Pilgrim recorded a swim time of 10:01, a bike split of 35:56, and a run of 19:46.
In the women’s competition, Burns secured the championship in 1 hour, 11 minutes, and 57 seconds. Her performance included an 11:03 swim, a 39:26 bike, and a 21:28 run. Vivian Lochhead was the second-place female finisher, completing the course in 1 hour, 18 minutes, and 14 seconds. Lochhead’s segment times were 13:25 for the swim, 41:31 for the bike, and 23:18 for the run.
