The Bermuda men’s under-23 football team fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Ynys Mon at the International Island Games in Orkney today [July 15].

Midfielder Jakeem Jennings struck a superb last-gasp free kick to ensure Bermuda advance to the semi-finals, where they will face Jersey on Thursday.

Bermuda top group C with four points from two games.

Coach John Barry Nusum’s side found themselves trailing 2-0 after Lairn Morris netted twice for Ynys Mon in the eleventh and eighteenth minutes.

Although the game was heated throughout, Bermuda showed cool heads to fight back on level terms after Mason Christian reduced the deficit in the 22nd minute before Jennings’s wonder strike in the 91st minute.

However, the team suffered a blow in the second half when Caleb McDowell was forced off with a broken leg and dislocated ankle after a reckless challenge by a Ynys Mon player.
