Cricket: Bailey’s Bay Defeat Flatts In Opener
Bailey’s Bay defeated Flatts Victoria by 10 runs this weekend as the always popular Eastern County Cricket series got underway.
Flatts won the toss and elected to bowl, reducing Bailey’s Bay to six runs for four wickets. A rescue effort led by Derrick Brangman, who scored 57, allowed Bailey’s Bay to post a total of 106. Kamau Leverock was the standout bowler for Flatts, finishing with five for 52, while Kevin Hurdle took four for 43. In reply, Flatts Victoria’s run chase also faltered. Leverock top-scored with 22, but the challengers were bowled out for 96, falling just short of the target.
Brangman, who anchored his team’s batting, proved decisive with the ball as well, taking six wickets for 33 runs to dismantle the Flatts lineup. His all-round performance earned him Man of the Match honors and sealed the victory for Bailey’s Bay.rom 13.2 overs, earning him the Man of the Match award and leading Bailey’s Bay to a hard-fought victory.
