Video: Bermuda Women Defeat Shetland
The Bermuda women’s national football team defeated the Shetland Islands 2-0 thanks to a brace from Jahni Simmons at the International Island Games in Orkney today [July 15].
The striker scored goals in either half to ensure coach Naquita Robinson’s side finished top of group B with three successive wins.
Bermuda, the defending champions, face Goza in the semi-finals on Thursday.
Simmons opened the scoring with a left-footed effort in the 38th minute before slotting home with a neat finish in the 72nd minute.
“These were my first international goals at my first Island Games, so I’m happy to be on the scoring sheet,” Simmons told Bernews.
“We just have to keep going and keep pushing to the next game.
“We feel very confident, but it’s not going to come easy and we have to keep pushing to the end.”
