Tuwile On National Grief Awareness Day
As National Grief Awareness Day approaches on August 30, Tuwile is encouraging the Bermuda community to “do more than simply recognize grief, take steps to live with it.”
A spokesperson said, “Grief is inseparable from loss—and loss is more than the death of a loved one. It can be any real or perceived deprivation of something deeply meaningful. Because of this, our experiences of loss are endless. Some losses shake the very core of our lives, while others are quieter, felt as subtle shifts. Yet whether large or small, grief is real and deserves acknowledgment.
“As National Grief Awareness Day approaches on Saturday, August 30, Tuwile urges the Bermuda community to do more than simply recognize grief, take steps to live with it. Too often, pain is suppressed or numbed with unhealthy distractions. Healing begins when we choose to acknowledge grief and open ourselves to the possibility that life can still hold meaning, even amid heartache. This may look like trying something new in honour of a loved one or simply taking one step away from isolation and despair toward hope and resilience.
“Use this day to bring grief front and centre. Instead of dragging it behind you like a heavy burden, or denying it exists, allow grief to walk beside you. It is now part of your story. There is no closure or finish line—but our lives can grow around loss. Invite grief to sit with you. Carry it into new experiences. Share it with friends and family. Embrace it as part of your journey.”
“This may sound incredibly difficult, and you may not know where to begin,” says Jeelise Allen, Founder of Tuwile. “But acknowledging and living with your grief is far more healing than hiding it, denying it, or carrying it alone.”
A spokesperson added, “Tuwile was founded so that no adult in Bermuda has to grieve in isolation. To help individuals take the first step, Tuwile offers a complimentary 15-minute consultation to explore whether one-on-one grief therapy is the right fit. Appointments can be booked by calling 441-591-1107, emailing info@tuwilebda.com, visiting www.tuwilebda.com, or connecting on Instagram @tuwilebda.
