U19 Team Announced For Americas Qualifiers

The Bermuda Cricket Board announced the Under-19 National Cricket Team that will compete in the ICC U19 Americas Region World Cup Qualifier, which will be held in Atlanta from August 7 – 17th.

A spokesperson said, “This prestigious tournament serves as the official qualifying event for the 2026 ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, providing Bermuda’s rising stars with an opportunity to showcase their talent, discipline, and determination against top youth teams from across the Americas.

“The squad will be led by captain Zeri Tomlinson, whose calm demeanor, sharp cricketing mind, and leadership have been instrumental throughout the team’s preparation. He will play a key role in steering the squad through the high-pressure environment of international competition.”

Mr. Lloyd Smith, President of the Bermuda Cricket Board, expressed his enthusiasm for the team’s journey: “We are incredibly proud of our Under-19 National team as they embark on this vital mission to Atlanta. This tournament represents not only an opportunity for them to showcase their skills on an international stage but also a chance to gain invaluable experience that will shape their future in sport. I’m encouraging all citizens to send their positive energy and support to our national team as they strive for World Cup qualification.”

Head Coach Clay Smith also shared his confidence in the team’s preparation: “The preparation has been excellent. The kids have been very enthusiastic and energetic for this experience,” said Smith. “The team has a good variety of bowlers, and we have some senior players who will be key to our success.”

The spokesperson said, “The coaching staff accompanying the team consists of Head Coach Clay Smith, Assistant Coach Reginald [Reggie] Tucker Jr, Manager Michael Terry Thomas, as well as Cricket West Indies Consultant Andre Coley.
