Photos: Students Spread Kindness Initiative
Grade 7 students from Bermuda Institute recently brought their Bible class lesson on kindness to life at The Heron Bay MarketPlace, turning a classroom idea into an act of service that touched both shoppers and staff.
A spokesperson said, “As part of a classroom challenge, the students were asked to find practical ways to give back to their community. One group suggested offering free car window cleaning for the public. The students approached the store for permission, and with approval, chose The Heron Bay MarketPlace parking lot as the ideal place to bring their idea to life.
“Windex, cleaning cloths, and big smiles in hand, the entire class of 23 students gathered to clean as many car windows as they could during their one-hour lesson. Customers were delighted by the surprise gesture, sharing their thanks with the students and teachers.”
“It was a pleasure to welcome the Bermuda Institute students to Heron Bay. Their thoughtful gesture was a reminder that kindness goes a long way. It was wonderful to see young people giving back to their community in such a positive way,” said a MarketPlace spokesperson.
“These students showed how simple acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day. We’re proud of the students and proud that The MarketPlace could be a place where young people live out these values and inspire others to do the same,” the spokesperson added.
“Our students were so excited to serve the public and reflect God’s love through their actions in such a visible way,” shared Grade 7 teacher Mrs. Mazina Nisbett. “The smiles they received in return were the best reward. We are grateful to The MarketPlace for giving them the opportunity to put their learning into action.”
The spokesperson said, “The MarketPlace thanks the Bermuda Institute students for choosing Heron Bay as the place to carry out their thoughtful initiative and applauds their commitment to kindness and community spirit.”
