PLP Pay Tribute To Ann Webb

September 15, 2025

The PLP paid tribute to Ann Webb, saying her “unwavering guidance and mentorship paved the way for the PLP to continuously hold the majority of seats in Devonshire.”

A PLP spokesperson said, “Sixty-two years ago, with the formation of the Bermuda Progressive Labour Party, each parish around the island created a Branch.

“Long before the advent of WhatsApp and email, branch members walked all around their respective parishes knocking on doors, some friendly, others not so friendly, listening to what was on the hearts and minds of thousands of Bermudians.

“They organised bake sales and potluck dinners on a monthly basis in order to raise funds. Door by door, neighborhood by neighborhood, they gained the trust of the people, not by slick words but by their deeds and dedication.

“In the Parish of Devonshire there was a group of close-knit neighbors and cousins inclusive of the following:

  • Comrade Richard Lynch
  • Leonie Richards
  • Burnell Henry
  • Rita Peniston
  • Marion Robinson
  • Lois Browne-Evans
  • Ann Blanche Webb

“Today the Progressive Labour Party honours one of the last of the original Devonshire Branch, Ms. Ann Webb.

“Her countless years of service saw the then Devonshire North become a political stronghold held for decades by her first cousin, the late Dame Lois Browne-Evans and the late Hon. L. Frederick Wade.

“Her unwavering guidance and mentorship paved the way for the PLP to continuously hold the majority of seats in Devonshire.

“We will forever be in her debt.”
