September 18, 2025

Police have confirmed the death of 37-year-old Janae Minors following a shooting on Tuesday afternoon.

Detective Chief Inspector Derricka Burns said, “At approximately 4:45 PM on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025, a lone gunman entered Beauty Monster, a beauty supply shop on the corner of Court and Dundonald Street Pembroke and shot a female victim inside the premises.

“Emergency services were on scene quickly, and first responders made every effort to save her life. She was transported to hospital, but tragically, succumbed to her injuries a short time later.

“The victim, 37 year old Ms Janae Minors, was a mother of 2, ages 16 and 18. She’s been described as a hard worker with a vibrant, beautiful personality. It is extremely tragic and heart breaking that she has lost her life in this manner.

“Detectives from the serious crime unit are actively pursuing all leads, and we are working to identify and locate the individual responsible.

“What we know thus far is that the suspect rode along Court Street, parked a black motorcycle and then walked into the Beauty Monster store, which the victim owned, and shot her multiple times. This appears to have been a targeted attack.

“The suspect then ran back to the motorcycle and left the area travelling north on Court Street, down Tills Hill towards TCD, and then made a left turn towards Marsh Folly Road.

“The suspect is described as thin build, wearing a black jacket, black helmet with a full face visor, grey pants and bright coloured gloves, and appears to be tall, based on CCTV footage.

“The cycle used in the attack is confirmed to be a stolen vehicle and we are pursuing that line of enquiry.

“We are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident, particularly between 4:30 and 5:15 PM on September 16th, to come forward.

“Court Street is a busy area with people visiting shops and restaurants, people leaving work or driving through the area. Any information, no matter how minor it may seem, could be vital to this investigation.

“We are also encouraging local residents and businesses with CCTV, dashcams, or doorbell footage to check their recordings from Tuesday afternoon and contact us if they see anything unusual.

“To the family and loved ones of Ms Minors, our hearts are with you during this very difficult time. We are committed to seeking justice on your behalf.
