Bahá’í Community Marks Sacred Twin Days
The Bermudian Bahá’í community will join millions worldwide in celebrating the ‘Twin Holy Days’ this month.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermudian Bahá’í community will join millions of people around the world in observing the “Twin Holy Days”, commemorating the birthdays of the Báb and Baháʼu’lláh, respectively. The Twin Holy Birthdays will be celebrated on two consecutive days, the 22nd and 23rd of October, 2025 to honor the prophet-founder of the Bahá’í Faith, Baháʼu’lláh and the Báb who foretold his arrival.
“To observe this sublime occasion, the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Bermuda invites the community to the first of the Twin Holy Birthdays observance on the 22nd October at 5:30 pm at the Bahá’í National Centre, #8 Brunswick Street in the City of Hamilton. The evening will begin at 5:30 pm with refreshments and socializing, followed by the programme starting promptly at 6:15 pm. On the second of the Twin Holy days, the Bahá’ís will observe the occasion in local communities, gathering with families, friends and neighbours.”
In the Most Holy Book of the Bahá’í Faith, the Kitáb-i-Aqdas, it states that, “These two days are accounted as one in the sight of God.” On each of these blessed days nearly two centuries ago, the whole world was illumined with the light of new Manifestations of God.
A spokesperson added, “Bahá’ís regard the Twin Festivals as a sacred moment to gather and strengthen the devotional and social life of the community and as a priceless opportunity to reach out to friends, family, and the wider Bermudian society and share with them the significance of the lives and missions of these two most precious Beings.
“The Báb is recognized as the Prophet-Herald of the Bahá’i Faith, who revolutionized religious thinking of the time, 19th century Persia [modern day Iran]. His ministry ushered in a new era in humanity’s spiritual development. His teachings established an independent religion and prepared the world for the coming of a new Manifestation of God, Baháʼu’lláh.
“The Báb announced in 1844 the dawning of a new spiritual light for humankind, and prepared the decadent and unreceptive community for the arrival of the Revelation of Baháʼu’lláh. For the selfless promotion of the new religion, the Báb and 20,000 of his followers were persecuted and martyred. Before his untimely death at age 30, the Báb proclaimed that ‘One greater than Himself’ would arrive to fulfill the prophecies of all the great religions and usher in a new age. This would be Baháʼu’lláh.
“The new age promised for humanity is unfolding, painfully and chaotically, before our eyes. Baháʼu’lláh’s vision of a world characterized by justice, peace, unity, and love–God’s Kingdom on earth–is not in view. Yet, Bahá’ís recognize that this vision is for all well-wishers of humanity to turn into reality: “Ye are the fruits of one tree, and the leaves of one branch,” Baháʼu’lláh says, “Deal ye one with another with the utmost love and harmony, with friendliness and fellowship…So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth.” All are invited to learn more about the vision of Baháʼu’lláh and to consider what work must be done to move closer to its fulfillment in Bermuda.
“The activities of the Bermudian Bahá’í community endeavour to share Baháʼu’lláh’s glorious vision for humanity and to build vibrant communities that will serve as havens of hope for all. Among these efforts is the programs of the training institute, which is a special kind of institution of learning that has been established by the worldwide Bahá’í community in practically every country of the world over the past few decades. These institutes offer courses–open to all–to strengthen capabilities to serve the community and to enable participants to pursue a twofold moral purpose: to contribute to their own spiritual and intellectual growth and to contribute to the transformation of society. Courses invite participants to explore the spiritual qualities, insights, concepts, and practical skills needed to build a better world. Among the questions institutes explore are how to create environments that put people in contact with the spiritual forces released through prayer and devotion; how to strengthen bonds of friendship and engage in meaningful conversations among people of various backgrounds; how to make the spiritual education of children an integral part of their community life; how to maintain an environment that helps young people develop their intellectual and spiritual capacities; and how to generate dynamics within the family unit that give rise to material and spiritual prosperity.
“The institute offers programmes for every age–from children to youth to adults. In particular, we recognize that in the young people of Bermuda lies a great reservoir of capacity to promote the well-being of our communities. Programmes of spiritual empowerment for youth and children are engaging dozens of young people from around Bermuda in directing their energies to the refinement of their characters and the building of unified communities, and anyone interested is welcome to join.
“Bermuda’s Ocean Light training institute offers regular courses–studied in small groups called “study circles”–open to the public. Holy Days offer an opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to these courses, to link arms with us in building a more peaceful, united, and vibrant Bermuda. Our foundational institute course for youth and adults, Reflections on the Life of the Spirit, begins on Thursdays, October 30, from 6:30- 8:00 pm at the Bahá’í National Centre. For more information on the training institute process, email Info@bermudabahai.org [subject- Institute] or visit our website, www.bermudabahai.org.”
