Oliver Betschart Reflects On Qualifying
Oliver Betschart has reflected on qualifying for his second Butterfield Bermuda Championship after claiming the third exemption spot in the Local Qualifier at Port Royal Golf Course yesterday [October 8].
Betschart became the youngest player to compete in a PGA Tour event since 2014 when he qualified for the Championship aged 15 two years ago.
The amateur, who qualified along with Will Haddrell and Kenny Leseur yesterday, carded a five-over par 76 in the final round, finishing with a total score of 147 – two shots ahead of Johnny Bart and Camiko Smith.
“Qualified! Looking forward to my second PGA Tour start,” Betschart said.
“Port Royal was playing tough [yesterday], but I stayed patient and trusted my game.
“Grateful for everyone who’s been part of this journey, family, coaches, friends, and supporters.
“Big Congrats to Will Haddrell and Kenny Leseuer for also getting it done. Looking forward to teeing it up alongside you both.”
The Butterfield Bermuda Championship will run from November 13 to 16 at Port Royal.
Owen Darrell, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, has praised the trio for their performances in the Local Qualifier.
“Congratulations to Will Haddrell, Kenny Leseur, and Oliver Betschart on qualifying for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship – an incredible achievement for these talented Bermudians!” he said.
“Thank you to the tournament organisers, volunteers, and partners for continuing to create world-class opportunities right here at home.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming the Butterfield Bermuda Championships back to Port Royal Golf Course from November 13–16 – it’s going to be an exciting week for Bermuda!”

Best wishes to the 3.
