Thomas Cechini Helps Loyola Team Win
Bermudian swimmer Thomas Cechini contributed to a dominant performance by the Loyola University Maryland men’s team, which defeated Lafayette College 287-70 in a Patriot League dual meet at the Mangione Pool.
The Greyhounds won all 28 swimming events as well as both diving events. Cechini, a freshman, placed third in two distance events. He finished the men’s 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:52.15 and the men’s 500-yard freestyle in 4:47.39.
In the men’s 50-yard freestyle, Cechini finished eighth, clocking a time of 21.76 seconds. He also swam the lead leg for the Loyola men’s 200-yard freestyle relay team, which secured a fifth-place finish with a combined time of 1:29.67.
