No Fireworks At The City Tree Celebration
The City of Hamilton says the fireworks portion of this year’s Rockin’ Around the City Tree event has been cancelled due to an “unforeseen technical challenge” while the rest of the festive celebration will proceed as planned.
A spokesperson said, “The City of Hamilton advises the public that, due to an unforeseen technical challenge on the part of the fireworks provider, they are unable to deliver the planned display, and as a result, the fireworks element of Rockin’ Around the City Tree will not take place as previously announced.
“Every other part of the evening’s fun-filled, holiday programme will proceed as planned – from the tree lighting to the high-energy dance performances and photos with Santa.”
“We know that many were looking forward to the fireworks, and we appreciate the public’s understanding,” said Lorna Hayward, the City’s Senior Events Coordinator. “While this portion of the programme is unable to move forward, the evening will still offer a full, festive celebration that families have come to love.”
A spokesperson added, “Rockin’ Around the City Tree takes place on Friday, November 28th from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at City Hall. The community is invited to join the City and charitable partner Tomorrow’s Voices for the lighting of the brand-new City Christmas Tree [the tallest in Bermuda!] which debuts this year with custom Bermuda-themed decorations designed in collaboration with Gibbons Company.
“This free, family-friendly event will feature an evening of live performances, complimentary hot chocolate, and professional photos with Santa Claus as he makes his first official appearance of the season.
“Entertainment for the evening includes performances by Bermy Bouncers, Aalai, DanceSations, Sui Generis Dance Studio, and Sia Spence.”
“The lighting of the City Hall Christmas Tree has become a cherished holiday tradition,” added Ms. Hayward. “We look forward to welcoming everyone for a joyful start to the season.”
A spokesperson added, “In the spirit of giving, guests are invited to support Bermuda Autism Early Intervention Centre Tomorrow’s Voices, which has been a long-time charitable partner for this event. Since 2007, Tomorrow’s Voices has provided essential therapy and developmental services to children and families across the island. Tomorrow’s Voices will be on hand at Friday’s event, selling light-up toys to raise funds for the autism charity.
“The City encourages attendees to enjoy dinner at a City restaurant or begin their holiday shopping before joining the festivities.”
