[Updated with video] Curly’s Walking Football Club finished their UK tour on a high note yesterday [November 28] after winning their final game in a round-robin event.

They played three 12-minute, six-a-side games against teams from Brunswick Community Centre in Bootle, Merseyside.

Two goals each from Michael Bean and Khomeini Talbot earned Curly’s a 4-2 win after a goalless draw and a 2-1 defeat. George Butterfield, the captain, scored for Curly’s.

Khomeini was voted MVP of the event while 78-year-old goalkeeper Gordon Stewart was voted Curly’s MVP by the other teams.

The squad will watch tomorrow’s Premier League game between Manchester City and Leeds United at the Etihad Stadium before returning to Bermuda on Monday.

“The tour has been a great learning experience for the team – the first walking football club in Bermuda and the first to travel overseas,” Chris Gibbons, a team member, told Bernews.

“We hope our experience will help grow the sport in Bermuda and encourage more tours in the future.”
