Rain-Soaked Karting Action At Southside
The Bermuda Karting Association staged an action-packed round of the Rubis Energy Karting Championship at Southside Motor Sports Raceway this weekend.
A spokesperson said, “Wet weather couldn’t slow the action as the Bermuda Karting Association delivered a thrilling round of the Rubis Energy Karting Championship at Southside Motor Sports Raceway. Drivers battled slick conditions and close competition across all classes in a day packed with high-speed drama.
“In the L206 class, #91 Jason ‘Skuzzie’ North was in unstoppable form, storming to victory in all three heats. #129 John Carreiro Jr. and #84 Owen DeCosta kept the pressure on but had to settle for podium finishes behind the dominant #91.
“#518 Ryan Burgess was the man to beat in Tag Senior, taking a clean sweep across all heats. #84 Nathan DeCosta, #34 Jorja Thomas, and #159 Jonah Moniz kept the racing tight, but #518 proved untouchable all day.
“In Tag Junior, rising star #92 Tanner Correia showcased consistency and control, winning every heat ahead of #12 Alondro Albouy, #81 Jonathan Linberg, and #30 Syah Pedro. Correia doubled up with another dominant performance in the Cadet class, holding off #112 Jacob Garrett to go undefeated once again.
“The combined Shifter [KZ & KZ Masters] class provided some of the day’s most exciting racing, with #18 Ryan Burgess powering to victory in the KZ division, followed by #3 Ryan Rebello and #51 Stephen Corrado. In the Masters ranks, #53 Jason DeCouto swept all three heats, with strong runs from #52 Philip Correia, #14 Rian Lindo, and #2 William Dunkley rounding out the podiums.
“Despite the rain and reduced visibility, the drivers put on an electrifying show — proving once again that Bermuda karting thrives in any conditions.”
