Rugby Teams Continue Competing In Trinidad
The Bermuda men’s rugby sevens team advanced to the semi-finals of the 2025 Rugby Americas North [RAN] Sevens in Trinidad, defeating Jamaica 12-7 on the second day of competition. The Bermuda women’s team also claimed a victory, defeating Guyana 19-14 at the Larry Gomes Stadium.
In a play-off match against Jamaica, Alex Doyling opened the scoring for Bermuda with a try and a conversion, establishing a 7-0 lead. While Jamaica narrowed the gap, Jamie Baum scored an unconverted try early in the second half to push the score to 12-7. The Bermuda defense prevented further scoring to secure the semi-final berth.
Earlier, the men’s team lost 21-7 to Barbados. Alex Brown scored a first-half try and added the conversion for Bermuda’s only points of the match.
The Bermuda women’s team concluded their day with a win against Guyana. Marseille Williams and Apryl Jackson scored converted tries to give Bermuda a 14-0 lead. Guyana rallied to tie the match at 14-14 early in the second half. Najée Pitt-Clarke then broke through the defense to score the decisive try, securing the 19-14 victory.
The women’s side opened the day with a 41-0 loss to Jamaica.
