School Knockout Finals Set For Weekend
The Bermuda School Sports Federation will hold its Knockout Cup Champions football finals at the North Field, National Sports Centre, on Saturday [December 13].
The event will feature Primary, Middle, and Senior School divisions.
Saltus Grammar School will compete in seven of the eight championship matches.
The Primary School Girls’ final will be between Saltus and Warwick Academy.
Both teams needed penalty shootouts to reach the final.
West Zone winners Warwick Academy secured a 2-0 win on penalties over BHS after a goalless draw, while East Zone winners Saltus defeated Somersfield Academy 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw.
Nia Maughan, Sienna Jagoda, and Rhyla Simons scored for Saltus, while Myla Desjardins netted twice for Somersfield.
In the Middle School competitions, the Under-13 Boys’ final pits the Whitney Institute Bulls against Somersfield Academy.
Whitney beat Saltus 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw in the semi-finals, with Julian Simons scoring a brace for the Bulls.
Somersfield advanced with a 1-0 win over Francis Patton, courtesy of a strike from Shiloh Stevens.
The Middle School Girls’ final will feature Warwick Academy against Saltus.
Warwick impressed in a 4-0 semi-final win over Sandys Secondary Middle School, with Devi Samuels scoring twice.
Saltus defeated BHS 5-1, led by a Sydney Pethick hat-trick.
In the Middle School Boys’ Over-13 final, Saltus will face Sandys.
Saltus reached the final with a 13-0 win over Mount Saint Agnes, with Mackay Browne and Azai Burt each scoring four goals.
Sandys needed a penalty shootout to defeat Somersfield Academy after their semi-final ended 1-1.
In the Senior School Under-16 Boys’ final, Berkeley Institute will face Saltus.
Saltus beat Warwick Academy 3-2 with goals from David Augustus, Naveenn Simmons, and Shiloh Anderson.
Berkeley received a walkover to reach the final.
The Senior School Girls’ final features Berkeley against Saltus.
Saltus edged past CedarBridge Academy 2-0 in their semi-final, with goals from Isai Gibbons and Rajee Knight-Rowling.
Berkeley overcame Warwick Academy 2-0 with goals from Rylan Desilva and Norico Furbert.
