Football: Somerset & Devonshire Cougars Win
The Shield and Friendship Trophy quarter-finals took place at the Devonshire Recreation Club with a double-header.
Shield
The Somerset Trojans defeated St. David’s 4-0 to advance to the Shield semi-finals.
Enrique Mendes scored the opening goal in the 25th minute. An own goal doubled the Somerset lead before halftime. In the second half, Leo Burgess scored in the 76th minute and Isaiah Francis recorded a goal in the 86th minute to complete the win.
Friendship Trophy
The Devonshire Cougars advanced to the semi-finals with a 4-2 victory over Young Men Social Club.
Ayden Gardner scored for Social Club in the 14th minute, providing a 1-0 lead at the half. Matteo Turner equalized for the Cougars in the 56th minute. Samario Valasse-Paul scored in the 67th minute to give Devonshire the lead, and Kyden Browne added a third goal in the 69th minute.
Robert Edwards scored for Social Club in the 75th minute to make the score 3-2. Mosiais Mills recorded the final goal for the Cougars in the 78th minute.
