Police Warn Of ‘Suspicious Packages’
The Bermuda Police Service is warning the public not to touch or handle “suspicious packages” recently found on South Shore beaches and to report any sightings immediately.
A police spokesperson said, “In recent weeks, the Bermuda Police Service has been alerted to a number of suspicious packages, found washed up on some South Shore beaches.
“While there has been no indication that these items pose a threat to public safety, should you come into contact with or happen upon any of these packages you are advised not to touch, or open them, as they may contain substances that could pose a health risk if handled.
“We also urge that you do not go in search of these packages or take possession of them should you find any.
“Should you encounter any suspicious package:
- Do not handle it
- Keep a safe distance
- Immediately call 911 or, 211 and provide a description and location of the item
“We appreciate your assistance and cooperation in addressing this situation.”
