Special Court Sitting To Open 2026 Legal Year

The Judiciary will hold a Special Sitting of the Supreme Court on Friday, January 30th to officially open the 2026 legal year.

The official circular, dated January 13th, says, “The Judiciary will be holding a Special Sitting of the Supreme Court to mark the opening of the 2026 legal year on Friday, 30 January 2026 at 3:30 pm in the Dame Lois Browne-Evans Building [DLBE], Court No. 1.

“In light of the Special Sitting, both Supreme Court Registry locations [at DLBE and the Government Administration Building], as well as the Court of Appeal Registry and the Magistrates’ Court Reception Desk will close at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements should be made to file documents between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm or between 2:15 pm and 3:00 pm. If there are urgent filings, arrangements may be made to have them accepted between 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. by contacting the Acting Registrar by email at supremecourt@gov.bm.”
