Elite Women’s Field Announced For Mile

Anna Vess is expected to return to the island to defend her title in the Butterfield Mile elite women’s race on Front Street next Friday [January 16].

The American, who won last year’s race in 4min 52.92sec, is among the field listed in the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge Official Programme.

Also returning are Britain’s Ellie Stevens, who placed runner-up last year in 4:55.70, and Gina McNamara, who holds dual Malta–United States citizenship and finished third in 5:06.72.

Former resident Gayle Lindsay, who represented Bermuda at the International Island Games in Orkney, Scotland, last summer, is also returning to the island to compete.

Bermudian Meghan Diel will test herself against the overseas competitors, including Canadian Karley Rempel, and Americans Molly Applegate and Kelly Babcock.

The field of 19 also includes multiple Bermuda Half-Marathon Derby champion Rose-Anna Hoey.

The Butterfield Mile races start at 7pm.
