BMA Issues Warning About ‘Coinmint Bermuda’
The Bermuda Monetary Authority has added Coinmint Bermuda Limited and Coinmint Bermuda Services Limited to its warning list.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Monetary Authority [BMA or Authority] is aware that the following entities are falsely claiming to be companies incorporated in Bermuda and licensed by the Authority to conduct regulated activity under the Digital Asset Business Act 2018:
- Coinmint Bermuda Limited, and
- Coinmint Bermuda Services Limited [hereinafter collectively referred to as Coinmint]
“The Authority has not issued any licence to Coinmint and there are no companies on the Bermuda Register of Companies under the name of Coinmint Bermuda Limited or Coinmint Bermuda Services Limited.
“The Authority would also like to remind the public that it maintains a list of all regulated entities on its website and would encourage persons to access this list to verify the licensing status of entities. Conducting business with unregulated entities carries an increased risk for potential investors, especially when dealing with entities that make false claims of having been issued a licence. Anyone who chooses to conduct business with this entity does so at their own risk.
“The Authority maintains a warning list of known unauthorised firms and individuals to keep the public informed. As a result, Coinmint has been added to the warning list, which can be accessed at http://www.bma.bm/warning-list.”
