“heir inability to commend the PLP Government for slashing the debt while increasing investment in our people is disappointing but not surprising,” the PLP said.,

A spokesperson said, “They May Have Changed their Leader but their Message Remains the Same

“After the latest change in OBA leadership, there was much talk of “doing politics differently.” Unfortunately today’s Reply reflects the same approach that Bermuda has heard and repeatedly rejected before.

“Their inability to commend the PLP Government for slashing the debt while increasing investment in our people is disappointing but not surprising.

“The Budget provides for

  • Significant reduction in the debt
  • Largest tax cut in history for Bermudian workers
  • Cuts to taxes that will drive down electricity costs for families
  • Significant investment on our youth and seniors
  • Significant investment in our infrastructure

“We are clear on where we stand and what we believe should be done. The OBA seems more uncertain.

“The OBA calls for the debt to be reduced faster, while calling for new initiatives and spending to be launched.

“The OBA call for more foreign investment while refusing to acknowledge that many of their “successes” at Morgan’s Point and the Airport have legitimately hurt the Bermudian taxpayer.

“The Opposition refused to acknowledge that while they doubled the debt, the PLP was able to reduce it.

“The Opposition refused to acknowledge that while they refused to invest in seniors, we’ve increased their pensions

“Today Bermudians witnessed a Budget Reply more focused on scaring Bermudians than uplifting them.”
