Basketball League: Mambas & Piranhas Win
The Mambas and Piranhas claimed victories in the latest Bermuda Youth Basketball [BYB] League doubleheader.
A spokesperson said, “This past weekend’s BYB League doubleheader opened with a thriller as the Mambas faced the league-leading Cobras, who were looking to bounce back after their first loss of the season.
“The Mambas came in with a clear plan: slow the game down and make it physical. Their grind-it-out style disrupted the Cobras usual pace and turned the matchup into a defensive battle. Timely stops and clutch three-point shooting kept the Mambas within striking distance, even as the Cobras tried to push the tempo.
“In the end, the duo of Ajani Carey and Anson Robinson delivered when it mattered most. The duo lifting the Mambas to a 28–27 victory and handing the Cobras its second loss of the season.
“The final game of the evening saw the Piranhas take on the Bulldogs, who entered the matchup undermanned but determined to compete; Piranhas won 58-36.
“The Bulldogs battled hard to keep the game close, but the scoring punch of Maxwell Lawrence III and Stasio Raynor-Weller proved decisive. The duo combined for 42 points, powering the Piranhas to a strong win.
“With just their fourth victory of the season, the Piranhas showed they still have some fight left as the season heads into its final weeks.”
