Bodhidharma Zenji Ryu Shiai On March 15
Bermuda’s karate community is gearing up for one of the most anticipated events of the year as the 2026 Bodhidharma Zenji Ryu Shiai takes place on March 15, 2026, at the Whitney Institute Auditorium.
A spokesperson said, “Hosted in partnership with Shotocup and the Bermuda Karate Federation, the Shiai has become a cornerstone event on the national calendar. Known for its high technical standards and competitive intensity, the tournament will feature both kata and kumite divisions, bringing together athletes from across the island to test their skill, discipline, and fighting spirit.
“From rising youth competitors to seasoned black belts, the Shiai provides a platform for athletes to challenge themselves in a professional and structured environment. Each match and kata performance represents months of preparation, discipline, and commitment inside the dojo.”
“This event represents the heart of Bermuda karate,” a spokesperson said. “The Shiai is where preparation meets opportunity. It is where young athletes grow, experienced competitors raise the standard, and the entire community comes together in support of excellence.”
“Spectators can expect a full day of dynamic action, precise kata performances, and fast-paced kumite bouts that showcase the athleticism and technical skill of Bermuda’s martial artists. The atmosphere promises to be electric as families, coaches, and supporters fill the auditorium to cheer on their athletes.

“Doors open at 9:30 AM, with competition beginning at 10:00 AM.
