Lindo’s Offers $2,000 In School Awards
Lindo’s and the Bermuda Diabetes Association are spotlighting school participation in the March 8 charity walk with $2,000 in awards to promote student involvement and healthy habits.
A spokesperson said, “As momentum grows for the 2026 Lindo’s to Lindo’s race on Sunday, March 8, Lindo’s and the Bermuda Diabetes Association are ensuring school participation takes center stage.
“The 2026 School Participation Awards, an initiative developed by the Bermuda Diabetes Association and Lindo’s to encourage strong student participation in the 4-mile Charity Walk, will present two $1,000 awards generously donated by a sponsor.
- $1,000 to the Primary School with the most registered participants
- $1,000 to the Middle or High School with the most registered participants
“Aligned with this year’s theme, Every Step Counts: Small Steps, Big Impact, the initiative aims to encourage as many students as possible to take part, reinforcing the importance of introducing healthy habits from an early age while supporting a cause that affects 1 in 8 people in Bermuda: diabetes.”
Lori Rockhead, Executive Director of the Bermuda Diabetes Association, said, “When we talk about prevention, we have to start with our young people. Encouraging students to take part in Lindo’s to Lindo’s is part of an even bigger story. It’s about building awareness, promoting active lifestyles, and helping families understand the real impact diabetes has across our island.”
The spokesperson said, “In addition to walking on race day, students can also get involved by volunteering on Saturday, March 7, at the Jack King Building in the Botanical Gardens during race number collection. Volunteering offers a hands-on opportunity to support the event and contribute to a meaningful community effort while gaining community service hours.
“Lindo’s to Lindo’s continues to serve as one of the island’s most anticipated community events, bringing together families, schools, businesses, and athletes in support of healthier living.”
Zach Moniz, General Manager of Lindo’s, commented, “Lindo’s to Lindo’s has always been about bringing the community together, and it’s especially meaningful to see strong participation from our schools. Encouraging students to get involved helps build lifelong habits around physical activity and wellness, while also raising awareness about diabetes and its impact in Bermuda. We look forward to seeing schools come out in full force and make this year’s event another great success.”
The spokesperson said, “Students, parents, and teachers are encouraged to register early and select their chosen school when signing up via this link: https://runsignup.com/RaceGroups/16469?page=1.”
