Adrian Roach’s US Boxing Bout Cancelled
Boxer Adrian Roach was left frustrated after his bout in Greensboro, North Carolina, was cancelled at the last minute following a late withdrawal by his opponent.
Roach was scheduled to appear on the undercard of the “Homecoming of Joseph Jackson Jr” event at the weekend, but the contest was called off when his opponent Devin Carter withdrew shortly before the official weigh-ins.
The late change gave organisers no time to secure a replacement, leaving the 23-year-old welterweight [2-0] without a fight after weeks of preparation.
Roach wrote on social media: “I’m upset to announce that my fight today has been cancelled.
“My opponent pulled out of the fight right before weigh-ins and didn’t leave us any time to find a new one.
“There’s no excuse for such poor sportsmanship but it’s a part of this game.
“I apologise to all that were looking forward to seeing me fight and thank you all for your continued support.’
“Stay tuned for what’s next. Me and my team will be reaching out to all sponsors and ticket holders.”
